Songbird
Sweet songbird, take
All the notes of
my Sorrow
And tuck them
Through staff
Lines, to make
A minor key
Major
C sweetly jumps
G, and D embraces me
Three
Different, hard times
I cried ne’er to find
Home
Until you sang!
Lovely songbird, tilt
Your head
Quick
To catch an eye
A moment ago
Tearing,
Now drying with
Awe
Fearing: that
Next will come
Again, a world
so daunting,
To drown your sound
Ruthless,
for there
Was but dark -
Until you sang!
Precious songbird, fly
Your charm
Far
From unworthy me:
A man without
Grace, so to
The Lord
Begging,
Then a miracle: your
Feathers
Kissed a heart
Beating breast
I forgot my
Lord’s
Pure
Love -
Until you sang!
Friendly songbird, farewell
Your face
I’ll ne’er
Forget
May the black
In your
Eye pierce
such cold in a soul:
You shan’t ever
Let me
Mourn,
Again,
In my mind,
Let the tremors
Soon stop,
Before soon
Dies the Moon:
That I would
Wake
Again tomorrow,
And for you,
in my heart,
Make room!
